Examines the role of the central bank as an agent of policy credibility within the context of a currency union. Describes the operational framework and policy focus of the ECCB. Identifies the performance factors of the central bank and from these, judges the costs and benefits to its membership. Addresses a number of emerging challenges to the sustainability of the Eastern Caribbean Currency Union (ECCU) and thereby the central bank.
