Summary: Outlines the gains made by women at international conferences held in the last 3-4 years. Argues that at the Beijing Conference, women must build on these gains in two fundamental ways viz : by moving beyond language on specific issues to express the vision of the world they want to help create; and, by moving to ensure that agreements inscribed in conference documents make a real difference in the lives of people.
