Palm-fringed benefits: island dependencies in the new law of the sea.

O'KEEFE, Roger

Palm-fringed benefits: island dependencies in the new law of the sea. - 1996

Explains that in theory, a metropolitan power can reap the rewards of its island dependencies. Examines factors which must be established before an island's benefits will accrue to its colonial sovereign. Concludes that there is no rule of law to stop metropolitan states from exploiting the full potential of their island dependencies.
