Examines the incidence of current deficits in developing countries. Focuses on the role of real exchange rates and economic growth in improving the current account balance of countries. Presents a model which incorporates features of the absorption and elasticity approaches which control foreign direct investment, health and regional effects. Seeks to obtain the likelihood that the independent variables will yield current account surpluses.
