Population, environment and development.

GHIMIRE, Krishna

Population, environment and development. - 1994

Based on three case studies in Costa Rica, Pakistan and Uganda, argues that population changes have not been the most significant factor in environmental deterioration in most of the areas examined. Stresses the complexity of the links between population, environment and development, highlighting the manner in which traditional approaches to resource use and management have been eroded by the commercialization of production, and inappropriate state policies.
