Summary, etc. Describes and analyses party politics in Trinidad and Tobago between the years 1970 and 1981; a period which witnessed the emergence of a radical street based protest movement spearheaded by the National Joint Action Committee (NJAC) and the appearance of the National Union of Freedom Fighters (NUFF), a small guerrilla movement. Analyses the reaction of the then Prime Minister, Dr. Eric Williams, and the economic and social elites in the society. Examines the ideologies and behaviour of the several new parties which appeared on the scene to challenge the ruling party's (PNM) stranglehold on political power and state resources.
