Notes the effect the lowering of the CET will have on the manufacturing and agricultural sectors. Sees manufacturing and agriculture playing a pivotal role in job creation, trade expansion and foreign exchange generation in the OECS, but these sectors must be promoted in a manner which allows them to meet the challenges necessary to be competitive in a global economy. Additionally they must produce quality products at a competitive price with acceptable delivery time. Opines that a system must be developed to give the productive sector the backing and protection necessary to survive and be competitive regionally and internationally.
