Looks at the role of marketing in economic development, the most significant change of trade liberalization and the role of politics in the free trade theory. Suggests that it is imperative that an export strategy be developed to enable OECS to become internationally competitive and so ensure the economic, social and political upheavals be avoided. Notes that the ECSEDA's strategy is based on a subregional approach to export development. Suggests that trading export/import houses should be created.
