Provides a summary of the relevant disciplines of the trade agreements of the World Trade Organisation (WTO) that was established in the Uruguay Round viz. the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade, the General Agreemnet on Trade in Services and the Agreement on Trade-related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights. Assesses the adequacy of the various WTO rules and obligations from the perspective of economic efficiency and private sector development and explores what could be done by a government to go beyond the WTO.
