Looks at the future of the regional integration movement. Makes suggestions for a more enlightened and progressive approach to the Region's economic cooperation. Focuses on aspects of the Region's international economic relationships e.g. participation in NAFTA, the FTAA, the broadening of relationships with evolving trade blocs in Central and South America and dealing with the European Union in a post Lome IV context. Notes that a unity of purpose is now required in the collaboration in the fight against drugs, and that in this struggle the sovereignty of the countries of the region must not be circumscribed.
