Concludes that globalization and market forces will continue to lift large segments of the world's population out of poverty, however these forces are not sufficient to eradicate or even adequately address poverty. Finds that concerted pro-poor efforts by developing states and assistance from the international community to straddle the poverty gap with social services, safety nets and initiatives that facilitate the integration of poor countries into the world economy are required.
