Reports on a study which shows that both government agencies and non-governmental organisations in the Caribbean and South Pacific provide opportunities for women to participate in a variety of education and training programmes. Many of the programmes examined contributed to the personal empowerment, and to a lesser extent the political empowerment of the women who participated, and appear to have been successful in helping women achieve some degree of economic empowerment.
