Summary: Focuses on the economic and policy context in which economic reform has occured in Jamaica. Reviews six elements of economic reform viz. trade liberalization; domestic financial liberalization; opening of the capital account; privatization; tax reform and, the labour market reform. Looks at the state of stabilization policy through the effects of fiscal monetary, and exchange rate policy, during the period of economic reform. Examines the consistency of the various aspects of economic reform, their sequencing, and their complementarity with the stabilization policy. Discusses the economic outcomes during and after the reform period.
