Summary: Considers some of the asymmetries between the organizations that may affect interpretation of the provisions that govern their relationship. Offers an overview of the provisions in the GATT 1994 and the FUND/WTO Cooperation Agreement that govern the legal relationship of the institutions. Reviews the impact on WTO obligations of, first, measures in a member's adjustment programme that are supported by Fund financing; second, trade restrictions imposed for balance-of-payments reasons; and third, obligations under the Fund's Articles of Agreement regarding exchange matters.
