Begins with an overview of the legal framework for compliance in terms of the scope of the obligation to comply with ICJ decisions and the Charter system for enforcing those decisions. Analyses state practice in all ICJ cases that are relevant for the question of compliance. Syntehsises the varaious lessons learned from the actual practice of states with regard to the issue of compliance and evaluating prospects for the future.
