Summary: Attempts to demonstrate that governments have played a significant role in the economic development of the Asian NIEs. Reiterates the important role of entrepreneurship in economic development. Argues that the governments of the four Asian NIEs are entrepreneurial states. Concludes that, by means of government entrepreneurship, developing countries can catch up with the ecoomically more advanced nations, as illustrated by the Asian NIEs.
