Presents a study of interactions between by national governments and musical communities in Guyana and in the Caribbean and and how these relationships have evolved in an environment where the media is controlled by the state. Concludes that the practices of governance across the twentieth century exerted disproportionate influence in the creation, production, distribution and consumption of music.
