Examines whether or not the Movement has demonstrated in its interrelationship with parties and states a capacity to defend and advance the vital interests of the working class. Discusses the Caribbean Labour Movement as a movement of protest, free labour, indentureship and the politicization of the labour movement. Contains text of speech delivered at the forty-seventh conference of the Antigua Trades and Labour Union on September 18th, 1986.
