Summary: Discusses the nature of the ECOWAS trade liberalization programme, the ECOWAS legal system for implementing it and the provisos to trade liberalizaton under the Treaty. Where appropriate, makes comparisons with the trade liberalization programme of the EEC, and suggests that ECOWAS member states adopt some of the EEC measures for direct implementation of ECOWAS law without intervention by national law-making bodies.
