Summary: Suggests that the financial market in Trinidad and Tobago might optimally consist of a smaller number of institutions than currently exists. Contends that this suggestion may not be acceptable since there is the view that (1) efficiency and competition are directly proportional to the number of players in a given market, and (2) where there is concentration in a given market, the interests of consumers will not be well served.
