Summary: Briefly reviews the regionalization in the Asia-Pacific region and the role of foreign direct investments (FDI). Highlights the formation of enclaves of Japanese FDI in the region, and discusses the rising phenomenon of regional inequality in relation to spatial concentration of foreign investments. Concludes that developing countries in the region are striving to generate competitive incentives to capture projects that can develop their potential regions into model regions along the development corridors extending from Indonesia to East Asia.
