Export specialisation in the Caribbean and its implications for trade negotiations

Summary: Seeks to assess whether the idea of a common Caribbean interest in both regional and international trade negotiations is realistic. Conducts an analysis of the similarity in export patterns between Caribbean countries both within CARICOM and within the wider region in order to assess whether common patterns of specialisation exist. Considers export similarities between Caribbean countries and a) NAFTA countries; b) a sample of European countires; and, c) a sample of Africa and Pacific countries. Extends the analysis of patterns of export similarity and diversity among CARICOM countries by producing factor content estimates for a sample of countries.
