Focusses on the social impact of the economic adjustment to external shocks that have affected the Suriname economy during the 1980-87 period. Concludes that the cost of adjustment during the period of analysis has been unequitably shared by various social groups. Includes policy guidelines in 3 main areas viz. economic growth and investment policy; wage policy; and the establishment of a Social Investment Fund to promote productive employment for specific target groups.
