Papers grouped into four sections. Section one appraises the state of management accounting research and reflects on the changes in cost accounting over the past three decades. Section two focuses on financial management and on management accounting in practice. The state of the art of research in key areas of management accounting is discussed in section three. The final section considers pressures for change in several aspects of the field. A concluding paper draws together some of the main issues and ideas that characterize the book as a whole.
