Defines 'document delivery' as the supply of a retention copy of a document. Presents the elements of document supply, and lists the benefits as (1) speed, and (2) the ability to deliver documents directly to the requests. Describes the trials carried out by the British Library Document Supply Centre. Discusses briefly the role of standards and possible barriers to the implementation of new technology systems.
