PIERSON, Mary Y.
East Asia - regional economic integration and implications for the United States.
- 1994
Presents a summary of the ITC investigation on the causes of increasing economic integration in East Asia and the implications of this integration for the US. The report concluded that the ten East Asian nations have many of the same economic goals and problems, but also face both individual and shared obstacles to further regional and subsregional economic integration. Furthermore, other than ASEAN, there exists no regional institution that seems truly receptive to establishing an exclusionary economic bloc. Recommends ways in which small- and middle-sized US firms may enter and succeed in East-Asian markets.
