Implementing national public health policies in the framework of WTO agreements
- 2000
Explores how the application of the WTO agreements may affect the sovereign rights of states to protect and promote public health when the exercise of such rights requires the adoption of policies that may be inconsistent with trade liberalization obligations under those agreements. Examines, in particular, the room for manoeuvre left to the WTO members to adopt public health measures and some possible strategies to safeguard public health interests within the WTO system.
