EUROPEAN REVIEW OF LATIN AMERICAN AND CARIBBEAN STUDIES - Keizersgracht 395-397, 1016 EK AmsterdamNL CEDLA, Revista Europea de Estudios Latinoamericanos y del Caribe

DC

Examines the fears in the Caribbean that the Maaskricht Treaty and the Single European Market (SEM) presage the end of the wide range of economic ties and the host of political relationships between Europe and the Caribbean. Concludes that the immediate impact of the SEM and the European Union is not great, but that the Caribbean has some cause for concern in the mid-term and long term. Suggests the Caribbean reconsider and revise its relationships with the EU in the longer term.
