Notes that at present there is no common external tariff in Central America; each country has a different tariff despite the recent agreements resulting from the Presidential Summits and the Central American Tariff and Customs Council. Describes the current status of tariffs in Central American countries, and analyses the possible advantages and costs of establishing a common external tariff. Recommends integration policies to be followed based on the analysis undertaken.
